Does Trey Use A Teleprompter?

There are reports that, as of Summer 2010, Trey's floor equipment includes a Wolfgang telemonitor for lyrics. It appears directly forward of him, just past the monitor wedges, as seen in both fan and official photos. (There may be a second one, facing Mike, between he and Trey, behind Trey's fan.)

Note that the presence, or even use, of such a device does not indicate anything about practice, memory, or attention. The band has over 300 songs in rotation, including a number of new covers and long-gone originals returning this summer, and Trey does most of the singing.

In the past, lyrics to new songs have been taped to a monitor wedge by Brad Sands; it took time to write them legibly, and gave away that a new cover was coming. The teleprompter saves time, ensures surprise, and reduces the risk of lyrical flubs.
