To be honest I don't remember much of this show or details pertaining to even the journey to/from. I do remember the weather this night was much better than the next night, as well as a lightning storm over Denver during the Squirming Coil encore. It seems like the piano solo outro during Coil has conjured up more than one storm at shows (see:7/28/98, 6/12/10) I've attended, and everytime it happens I experience déja vu.
Anyways, as I relisten to this concert I am certain that the songs I get the most enjoyment out of now, are probably not the same as when I attended. This Theme From the Bottom is really good considering this is the third one ever. A lot of emotion in this version and Trey's solo doesn't disappoint. The Antelope climax is different as it kind of dissolves into the Rye Rye Rocco part as compared to the usual skreetching peak.
Second set for me now is all about the Acoustic Army and this beautiful Slave. The Wedge also sounds great on these AUDs. Mike's bass sounds so deep at Red Rocks. Anyone that has seen Phish at Red Rocks knows that sound. That earth-rumbling, deep, gutoral feeling. You can pick it out on any audience recording and it's like, yeah, I remember that feeling.
Nice Coil encore as I mentioned before.
The Marc Nutter AUDs of this on the spreadsheet are sonically delicious. Or, they make SonicSense(.com)... if you get my drift. Marc's a good guy, sold me my first mics. Thanks Marc
