MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 115

Welcome to the 115th installment of Mystery Jam Monday here at Phish.net. As usual, we will be playing for an MP3 download, courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. In case you missed it, the Blog was victorious last week, which would ordinarily mean we play for two downloads this week. However, The Blog has decided to put off the double MJ until next week for reasons that will likely be obvious to many of you. The rules haven't changed: you need to correctly identify the song and the date to win. Post your guess in the comments. One guess per person per day (with the second “day” starting after I post the hint). A hint will be posted on Tuesday (if necessary) and the answer will be posted on Wednesday. Good luck...

Tuesday Answer: No reason to let this one sit out there any longer. Ghostboogie wins it with the 12/6/97 "Izabella." Hopefully he has the good sense to use his prize to grab the new livephish release. See everyone on Monday for MJM 116.

mcgrupp81 Once again, the early bird catches the worm. Phish needs to be extra nice and release 12/29/95 and 12/30/95 for the holidays.

ghostboogie between last week's 12:01 end, and this week's 12:06 start, MJM is super time aware these days... personally, i was still bummed from not being able to figure out the show that last week's tweezer came from (i was checking pretty much every tweez i had- as late as europe '96 and as early as spring '94, but never thought to go as early as '93!), so i figured i'd bring my A-game this week & show up a few minutes early. thankfully, my effort was rewarded with an appropriatly "timely" snippet of music that could have been an easy MJM snag for any of us... i think that's 5 for me, btw, how many do you need to curate/guest host? 7? 10? i've got a few ideas...

docgonzo1972 Everybody knew that one. Can we have next week's this week too?

safetymeeting Am I the only person on erath that prefers audience tapes to sbd's?
Can someone let me know if this official release sounds awesome?
, comment by pikepredator
pikepredator I love a good quality AUD, sentiment from the tape trading days and all that. I listened to so many really crappy 5th gen AUDs back in the 90's, I never got jaded towards crisp SBDs. Those cheers at during the funky breakdown 1:30-1:45 put me right back into Fall 97 - 12/13/97 has the same kind of activity during the Mike's.

According to the website, it will be available at 12:01 ET, which means I'll be listening right around 9:15 PM :)

uctweezer I want Phish to release every show from 11/13/97 - 12/31/97 (we're getting closer with every release!), and I'd also like every NYE SBD in my catalog (analogous to the Halloween series).

I had a recent experience with a 4-schoeps mix from Alpine Calley this summer where the audience sounded superior to the soundboard. I was playing it at home on small speakers, and the sbd swallowed up the drums, and the definition of the parts wasn't well defined.

The audience tape sounded incredible by compare in this situation. The audience recording was also spectacular through headphones. Not so much when I tried to blast that recording through a decent car stereo. In that context, the highs were shrill, the low end lacked depth, and the crowd seemed a little chatty and obtrusive.

So that's the scoop. Know where to play what when, and that's how it can roll.

Phish1 Damn...after about 3 seconds, I was like "Hey! 12/6/97!"..then saw that there were 16 or 17 posts before mine. Knew someone would have this one quick.

Well done...

davey0110 Before I started I was predicting the Tweezer from 12/6/97 due to the high profile release. Any Phan who didn't recognize this "Jimi Hendrix cover" owes it to themselves to pony up the 9.99 tomorrow.

cerqs Easiest one yet.
